TECTERRA Inc., a Canadian national commercialization organization supporting the development and enabling the commercialization of geomatics technologies, today announced the appointment of Dr. Mohamed Abousalem, P.Eng, as the company's first Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. Dr. Abousalem has been appointed to lead the company through the launch of its activities in providing integrated resource management technology solutions to energy, forestry, agriculture, environment, and land management and development applications.

TECTERRA Partners with CIG, GIAC, and GEOIDE NCE for the Canadian Geomatics Conference

The Canadian Geomatics Conference will focus on the abundant yet largely untapped potential of Intelligent Mapping and the critical role Geomatics can play in bolstering Canada’s productivity, innovation, global competitiveness and overall socio-economic well-being. The Conference is designed to attract decision-makers, the general public and non-traditional users of spatial information, as well as those deeply involved within the Geomatics community: educators, developers, government, industry, and scientists. ISPRS Commission I will present a concurrent program focused on sensors and platforms. This will provide insight into the role space and satellites play in developing the ability to observe, detect and capture accurate data from great distances.

New Research Centre Devoted to Natural Resource Care

Improving the management of natural resources in Alberta, Canada and around the world is the goal of a new research centre announced Jan 15 by Minister of State (Science and Technology) Gary Goodyear. Funded under the federal Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) program and industry/government partners, the new Centre of Excellence for Integrated Resource Management will be the first of its kind in the world to focus geomatics engineering expertise towards the complex problems of large-scale resource and environmental management. The centre will be led by Naser El-Sheimy, holder of a Canada Research Chair and the head of the Department of Geomatics Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary.
