What are Highly Qualified Personnel?
Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) are defined as individuals with
university degrees at the bachelors' level and above.
Part of TECTERRA's mandate is to increase capacity for the geomatics
sector. Our HQP programs address various needs for the sector and for
geomatics professionals and students.
TECTERRA's HQP Programs
Through the Mitacs-Accelerate for Geomatics program, graduate and post-graduate students from across Canada apply their specialized expertise to the challenges faced by industry partners.
This program aims to:
(a)
Assist geomatics entrepreneurs and businesses have access to graduate and
post-graduate students for specific, short-term geomatics-based activities
(b) Help
make sure practical and beneficial geomatics products and services are
successfully developed and brought to market
(c)
Provide an opportunity for highly qualified geomatics students to further
their training and to experience the commercialization needs in business
- GEO-Placement Funding Program
Next Deadline: January 26, 2012. This program provides
a non-repayable grant of 50% of the position salary, up to $50,000 CDN, for a period of one year for a new HQP hire. -
Future Geomatics Leaders Awards
The Future Leaders Awards are scholarships based on academic merit and targeted at top undergraduate students studying geomatics and related science or technology fields in Alberta post-secondary institutions. Click the link above for complete program details.
This program offers Alberta's Highly Qualified Personnel an innovative curriculum covering topics involving industry trends, business best practices, technical concepts and methodologies and professional development. TECTERRA will provide funding support to deliver these programs.
The program helps geomatics HQP meet the growing job requirements through direct exposure to leading-edge practices and tools in geomatics.
