Mitacs-Accelerate for Geomatics: Research Internship

The Mitacs-Accelerate for Geomatics research internship program aims to:
(a) Assist geomatics entrepreneurs and businesses have access to graduate and
post-graduate students for specific, short-term geomatics-based activities
(b) Help
make sure practical and beneficial geomatics products and services are
successfully developed and brought to market
(c) Provide an opportunity for highly qualified geomatics students to further
their training and to experience the commercialization needs in business
A typical research internship program within Mitacs-Accelerate for Geomatics will cost $15,000, scaled for additional interns or term lengths for the same project. TECTERRA will pay to Mitacs on behalf of the applicant $7,000 of the total program cost. The applicant will pay to Mitacs $4,000 of the program cost and the remaining $4,000 will be covered by Mitacs. Successful applicants will be required to sign a Funding Agreement with TECTERRA in addition to their arrangement with Mitacs.
The student receives a minimum stipend of $10,000 and the remaining $5,000 can be utilized for additional costs. Interns spend approximately half of the time on-site with the industry partner; the remainder is spent at their university, developing a new tool, technique, methodology or solution.
How To Apply
Interested Alberta geomatics companies and/or internship candidates will submit a project proposal, a signed memorandum, current C.V. of the proposed intern and any supporting documents to Mitacs, who will ensure an appropriate match between company and internship candidate. TECTERRA will review submissions under Mitacs-Accelerate for Geomatics to ensure eligibility.
Each approved company will also sign a funding
